Cookie Policy

What are cookies
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently and to provide information to the website operator. This policy explains the limited use AfroVendors makes of cookies.
Cookies we use
AfroVendors uses a minimal set of cookies. We do not use advertising cookies, cross-site tracking cookies, or any cookies from third-party advertising networks.
- Authentication session cookie (strictly necessary): When you sign in to your vendor account using a magic link, Supabase sets a session cookie that keeps you signed in as you navigate between pages. This cookie expires when you sign out or after a period of inactivity. It is essential for the vendor dashboard to function and cannot be disabled while you are signed in.
- Server-side session storage: Supabase also uses your browser's localStorage to store session tokens on the client side. This is technically localStorage rather than a cookie, but serves a similar purpose — keeping you authenticated between page loads.
Customers who browse AfroVendors without signing in as a vendor are not subject to any authentication cookies. Standard web server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited) are recorded by Vercel as part of normal web hosting operations — this is not cookie-based tracking.
What we do not use cookies for
- Advertising or retargeting
- Cross-site tracking
- Third-party analytics (we do not use Google Analytics or similar)
- Social media tracking pixels
- A/B testing or personalisation beyond authentication state
Managing cookies
You can control cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to block or delete cookies. Note that blocking the authentication session cookie will prevent you from staying signed in to your vendor dashboard — you will need to request a new magic link each time you visit.
For guidance on managing cookies in common browsers:
Why we don't need a cookie consent banner
Many websites display cookie consent banners because they use advertising and tracking cookies that require explicit consent under GDPR and similar laws. AfroVendors does not use those categories of cookies. The only cookie we set is a strictly necessary authentication cookie, which is exempt from consent requirements under most privacy frameworks because it is essential for the service to function.
If you are located in the EEA, UK, or another jurisdiction with strict cookie consent requirements, you can take our word that we only use strictly necessary cookies — but if you have concerns, you can verify this by inspecting your browser's cookie storage while using AfroVendors.
Changes to this policy
If we introduce new cookies or tracking technologies in the future, we will update this policy and notify vendors by email before doing so. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
